Manna from heaven is a famous story from bible Exodus
16:1-36. It told a story about after Israelites escaped from Egypt under the leadership of Moses, they went to the wild and ran out of food. They started to question God, so God let the manna fell from heaven to the wild. Israelites saw all the manna on the ground and believed in God again. The
allusion has been described reverentially and magically. This story
shows God’s magic power and tells the believer that if you truly believed in
God, God will always favor you.

“What intermediate station they shall take may depend on soil, on climate, on food, on a careful choice of breeders. But all the manna of heaven would never raise the Mouse to the bulk of the Mammoth.”
In this sentence, he uses manna of heaven represent the free gift from heaven which we shall never depend on it.

The scene money fell down to the street refers to the allusion manna from heaven which means the gift from God.
Nowadays this allusion is usually used to show that there’s no such thing as a free lunch, people need to work hard to gain everything.
